"Diary of April" (2024)

Inspired by the diaries of the artist Frida Kahlo, in April 2024, I created a mixed-media diary featuring the highlights of each day that month.

The backgrounds were mainly done with collage, with the character created through digital art.

The theme of this artwork was "A depressed person finding significance out of mediocrity"

"Trapped in Myself" (2024)

This series of six A3 screen prints is inspired by my personal experience with internalised homophobia and the complicated relationship I faced with religion.

These quotes represent the worst things I felt about myself regarding my orientation and the confusion I felt toward those feelings.

"Not So Still Life" (2023)

This acrylic painting draws on the whimsy of childhood memories. The cluttered composition and bright colour palette are reflective of my time as a small child. I wanted this piece to be fun and bring joy to the people who look at it. It is a contemporary take on a classic still life, where I studied classroom objects and explored them in an illustrative and fun style.

"Ockham's Razor" (2025)

Ockham's Razor is a philosophical principle that, as a chronic overthinker, I try to live my life by. The principle is 'when faced with multiple solutions, the simplest answer is the correct one.' This quote is embedded in the work. I created linocut stamps and wrote the principle out in binary code for the background.

For this piece, I explored texture using found objects,e.g. scrap wood, tissue paper, a bottle cap, and sand. Alongside traditional mediums such as acrylic paint, India ink, silver leaf, acrylic ink, and stamping ink.

'Mended Not Fixed' (2026)

This ceramic piece is inspired by the Japanese art form Kintsugi. The theme of this piece is the ongoing process of dealing with clinical depression. Working through my emotions with art. The reason I chose Kintsugi was because it is about embracing the flaws and imperfections of the work, this is reflected in my own journey with depression and coming to terms with the fact that I will never go back to how I was before. I can never go back to ‘perfection’, but I can build a new version of myself from the ruins. I have been broken, but I can embrace these cracks, patch them up stronger, and be beautiful in different way. I am mended not fixed.

Jennifer's Picnic

Elliot's Cheese Board

A series of 8 oil pastel drawings on canvas, this project is a love letter to the people close to me. The works capture simple moments of joy sat around the dinner table. With good company, good food, and good memories.  Each piece is inspired by an individual who is important in my life and is named after them.

My hope is to invite the viewer to look at my work and reminisce about the times that they have spent with their own friends and family. Using my art to spark joy.
